The 2006 Board of Directors of the UERMMMC Medical Alumni Association Incorporated has embarked on the following thrusts for this year:
We believed there are many alumni who are supportive of our beloved alma mater. We have to make it easy for them to do something for the medical center. Each unit in the medical center has available plans for priority projects. The association will collate these projects and disseminate information about them so each individual or batch can choose a project which suits them. The association will encourage adoption of projects and assist in their implementation.
Last year we had regional assemblies for Central Luzon, Western Visayas and Southern Mindanao. The idea of forming chapters was accepted positively by many members. So, this year we hope to be able to organize and establish chapters in Central Luzon, Baguio City, Cagayan De Oro-Iligan City, Bacolod City and Cebu City. Plans for regional assemblies in Baguio (March), Cagayan De Oro (June) and Iloilo/Bacolod (October) are being finalized. These will be spearheaded by Dr. Andres Borromeo.
Coordinators for big hospitals in Metro Manila have been appointed with the objective of organizing our members by hospital. Dr. Disraeli Europa and Dr. Stephen Medel will lead us in this undertaking.
It has been noted that some batches are not organized although they may have a class coordinator. So efforts will be made to initiate organizing all batches and encourage them to have a “batch night” every year.
The Board has set up an alumni endowment fund. Only the interest earnings of this fund can be disbursed. This will go along way in building up the association funds and eventually make it stable financially.
More members have been informed about our Mission/Vision. They have to be aware of what is happening in the medical center and the activities of the association. Communication is the key to drumming up support and active participation.
Communication will be enhanced by establishing a website which is now being developed. Henceforth, our newsletter will be called ‘UERMMMC Medical Alumnews’. Batch correspondents have been appointed to contribute features in the batch news section. Dr. Rene-Edgar Mendoza is our Editor-in-Chief. The circulation of our newsletter will be increased.
Our directory has to be updated. We still have to track and reach out to our members. This will enable us to communicate with more members and hopefully get more to participate actively.
Aside from participating in the yearlong activities in celebration of the UERMMMC golden jubilee year of College of Medicine, the association exerts extra effort to enhance during its regular activities in this momentous milestone of our alma mater.
Let us support and participate in all the endeavors of our association whose primary purpose is to serve our alma mater and alumni!
