Alumni Elects New Officers
The new set of officers for the UERM College of Medicine Alumni Association, Inc. was inducted last December 20, 2007 during the 37th annual fellowship night at Edsa Shangri-La Hotel, Mandaluyong City: President - Dr. Andres D. Borromeo ‘73, Vice President - Dr. Jesus Adelo B. Inciong ‘87, Secretary - Dr. Paul Anthony L. Sunga ‘91, Treasurer - Dr. Melvin Juan R. Celofas ‘97, Members - Dr. Geoffrey R. Battad ‘82, Dr. Christia S. Padolina ‘83 and Dr. Samuel Vincent G. Yrastorza ’97.
Homecoming Toasts Class ‘82
87 members of the Silver Jubilarians, Medicine Class 1982 attended the 37th homecoming activities on December 18-21, 2007. The week began with a grand alumni welcome party at the UERM gymnasium where the Nursing and Physical Therapy alumni joined the medical graduates for the evening of camaraderie and entertainment rendered by the Nonoy Lopez band. The next day, December 19, a convocation was held at the College Auditorium where the Silver Jubilarians in their academic gowns received their commemorative medallions from President Romeo Divinagracia, assisted by Dean Alfaretta Tan-Reyes and the president of the medical alumni association, Dr. Andres Borromeo. The Convocation listened to the inspirational talk of Dr. Joven Cuanang. Dr. Noel Villanueva from Class ’82 delivered the Dr. Potenciano Baccay Memorial Lecture. At the Gala on December 20th at Edsa Shangri-La Hotel, the jubilarians were at their best, having pictures taken by groups or with their old buddies. It went to the all night dancing, reminiscing, picture taking, etc. It ended with the traditional silver jubilarian class family outing at Golden Sunset Resort in Calatagan Batangas.
Alumni Assembly – Naga City
The Alumni Regional Assembly & Scientific Meeting that sought to organize/strengthen the Alumni in Bicol Region was jointly held by the UERM College of Medicine Alumni Association, Inc. and Pfizer, Saturday, February 16, 2008 at the Crown Hotel, Naga City. Attended by our Alumni from Naga City, Sorsogon and Legaspi City. Messages were given by Dr. Alfaretta Tan-Reyes, Dean of the College of Medicine; Dr. Romeo Divinagracia, UERMMMC President and Dr. Andres Borromeo, President of the Alumni Association. After the Scientific meeting, it was followed by dinner-fellowship.
8th Invitational Golf Cup
The Association had undertaken its 8th Invitational Golf Cup in cooperation with the silver jubilarians for this year’s homecoming medicine class 1983. Headed by the golf organizer Dr. Manuel Oliveros, the tournament was held at the Valley Golf and Country Club in Antipolo City. Congratulations to the game winners: Lowest Net & Longest Drive: Edmund Lee; Class A- Champion: Chuck Felisco, 1st Runner-Up & Nearest to the Pin: Cristy Castillo, 2nd Runner-Up: Walter Lacuesta; Class B- Champion & Accurate Drive: Jose David, 1st Runner-Up: Dennis Lolarga, 2nd Runner-Up: Rolando Milan; Class C- Champion: Andrew Opulencia, 1st Runner-Up: Raymond Matino, 2nd Runner-Up: Gabriel Martinez. Grand raffle prizes of plane tickets won by Dr. Jose David. The Organizer expressed gratitude to all participants mainly to UERM Alumni and our sponsors: Solvay Pharmaceuticals, Philippine Airlines, Tanduay Distillers, One Pharma, Fortune Tobacco, UNILAB Consumer Health Care, Corbridge Group, Friends of Batch 83, Laser Center, Inc., Ramon Suatengco, MD & Oscar Ortiz, MD, Natrapharm, Inc., Pariñas-Lacuesta, Integra Pharma, Inc. and Dysnasty Pharmaceuticals.
