HISTORY
In 1997, then Director Reynaldo Nocum of the MISD of UE Manila assigned the Asst. Director for Operations, Presidio Calumpit Jr. to UERM to head its MIS department. Mr. Calumpit started the MIS-UERM operation with two data encoders, a technician and a programmer. Computer literacy program for UERM personnel was his initiative.
Mr. Calumpit was assigned as the MISD Head at the UERMMMC early 1996, while Mr. Gherman Jaramillo assumed term in October 1996. In 1998, the IT Center and Cyber Library was constructed and inaugurated at the 2nd floor of the Administration Building. Two additional personnel, the Facility Coordinators, manned the expanding operation. Automated systems in the Academic, the Hospital Billing and the Accounting were also developed and installed.
In April 2001, Engr. Gemma Asuncion replaced Mr. Jaramillo because of the changes in the organization of the MISD of UE Manila, wherein the latter became the Director of MISD at the main campus. Under her leadership, several initiatives were undertaken in the operation and organization of the UERM MISD. Efficiency of service, campus-wide networking, and functionality of the systems and users' training were given priority and focus. The HELP DESK was implemented in June 2001 to handle the scheduling of servicing computer maintenance requests.
TECHSUPPORT was established and regular preventive maintenance services are scheduled to assist the users of the center as well as to maintain all its PC units in good working condition. TECHSUPPORT was composed of the facility coordinator and two technicians. One of the two technicians was added in the organization to assist in the networking installation.
In July 2002, the Development Team was created to assist the growing needs of systems development in the center. It was composed of two documentation staff and three computer programmers. The IT Facility Supervisor of UE Manila, Ms. Jane Rodriguez, was also tasked to assist in the training and implementation of the fast paced projects at the Center.
In April 2005, Engr. Gemma Asuncion and Ms. Jane Rodriguez were transferred to UE Caloocan. MISD Senior Assistant Director Fe Campos, who was then detailed at the Caloocan Campus, took the place as MISD Head at UERM. The members of the Development Team was absorbed as part of the regular staff.
In May 2007, Dean Tessie Cheng-Cua, regular faculty member and former Dean of the College of Business Administration, UE Manila, was appointed as Senior Assistant Director to take the place of Ms. Fe Campos 
who retired in January 2007. Today, the MISD of UERM is now composed of a Senior Assistant Director as Department Head, three technical support staff, two Technicians, two Facility Coordinators, and three programmers. Two of the programmers also serve as website developer and network administrator.
MISD focuses on the efficient handling of all IT-related services for the UERM Academe, the Administration and the Hospital, from the Center's systems development, networking, Internet access services, hardware maintenance to training on IT-related areas.
The site of the Management Information Systems Department is located at the 2nd floor of the Administration Building.
