ALUMNI ASSOCIATION

The College of Physical Therapy’s alumni is currently in the process of organizing a formal alumni association. It has started in organizing informally a local group whose officers consists mostly of the College faculty. It has already started communicating with the other alumni abroad through the publication of an Alumni Newsletter, starting last April 2003.

In the U.S., there are loose groups of alumni either geographically grouped or with their batches. Communication and connection are maintained through the internet and the occasional informal group gathering.

The Medical Center also organizes a General Alumni Homecoming for the three (3) colleges every December, where everybody is welcome and without an entrance fee to serve as venue for UERM alumni to get together especially during the Christmas holidays.

Occasional informal lectures or forum are organized for visiting alumni, who are encouraged to give talks on topics that they are familiar or interested with. This serve as inspiration especially to the lower level students, what to strive for in the future and to show them a concrete example of what a UERM physical therapy graduate can be. More often, incoming students and even the general population have vague ideas or concepts about physical therapy. Thus, it will serve to clarify them.
