The UERM Nursing Alumni Association (NAA) celebrated its 23rd Grand Reunion at the Excalibur Hotel Las Vegas, Nevada, USA last August 3 to 6, 2006, with the Northern California Chapter as host.

The overall Chairperson of the event was Mrs. Preciosa “Malou” Medina Cu, who belongs to class 1977 of the College of Nursing. A comprehensive and meaningful educational program was especially designed by Mr. Rey Rivera (BSN 80) and Mrs. Virginia Balanag-Yamashiro (BSN ’76). The speakers who were invited in the scientific meeting were Dr. Olveen Carasquillo, a Master of Public Health degree holder, who talked on “Options for Covering the Uninsured: The Case for National Health Insurance.” He is the husband of alumna Judy Ann Arzadon. The other two speakers were both graduates of the College: Mrs. Virginia Balanag-Yamashiro, currently employed at California’s Department of Health Services, Home and Community Services Division, delved on “Medical Case Management Program,” and Dr. Tarlochan Pabla Hermosisima, a former faculty member of the College of Nursing now working at Washington, DC, on “Clinical Preceptorship.”

To get more acquainted on the role assumed by the UERM Nursing Alumni Association Foundation in relation to the benefits of its alumni members, a workshop was conducted by the officers and key players of the Foundation with the following topics:

> Historical Perspective of the Nursing Association and Founda-tion by Claire Padama (Past President, UERMMMC NAA, USA, and Chairman Emeritus, Founda-tion of the UERMMMC NAA, USA);
