College of Nursing Holds Clinical Update on Safe Transport and Mobility
The College of Nursing (CON) Faculty Development Committee, in collaboration with the College of Physical Therapy (CPT), conducted a clinical update entitled “Enhancing Competencies of Nurses on Safe Transport and Mobility” last November 14 at the CON Amphitheater–A. The program aimed to enhance the participants´ competencies in one of the most important nursing skills: safe transport and mobility. The activity was divided in two parts: lecture demonstration and return demonstration. The concepts tackled focused on how to safely and properly move, turn and transfer patients suffering from various mobility limitations. The last hour was spent on the return demo, for the evaluation of the previously learned skill. The resource persons were CPT Profs. Josephine Mata, Rongie Bren Magdangal and Archelle Jane Callejo. The event was attended by CON faculty members of all levels, headed by the Chair of the Faculty Development Committee, Prof. Norma G. Nastor, and other Nursing Service personnel. The program ended not only with the acquisition of the said skills but more so with a realization that such know-how must also be shared with other members of the health care team, most especially with the nursing aides. The joint effort on faculty development among the Colleges like this is geared towards providing consistent and updated care to our clienteles in the clinical area. Prof. Norma G. Nastor, MAN, RN |
