UERMMMC Ranks 3rd in
Nurse Licensure Exam

he Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announced last July 18, 2006 that 17,821 out of 42,006 examinees passed the Philippine Nurse Licensure Examination given by the PRC Board of Nursing in the cities of Manila, Baguio, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Legaspi, Lucena, Tacloban, Tuguegarao and Zamboanga last June 11 and 12. In line with this, UERMMMC, through the College of Nursing, bagged 3rd Place among top nursing schools in the recent board exam. Truly, for almost 50 years now, this institution remained consistent with its excellence in educating and training its students.

The Philippine Nurse Licensure Examination result was released later than expected due to the vast increase in the number of examinees and the thorough statistical treatment to the reports of irregularity. Despite the long wait, with 27 working days from the last day of examination, the results were finally released on July 18. Out of 116 examinees from UERMMMC, 103 or 89% made it, thus our Top 3 ranking.

Behind this success are the countless efforts and intense prayers of the batch “Archangels 2006,” together with the remarkable support and guidance of the faculty, staff and other special people behind this achievement, most especially by Dr. Carmelita C. Divinagracia, Dean of UERMMMC College of Nursing. This huge accomplishment is also the product of the joint effort given by Prof. Mary Josephine M. Famorca, the College's former College Secre-tary, and Professor Belinda M. Capistrano, the adviser of Archan-gels 2006. For four years, UERMMMC struggled its way towards molding this batch and therefore produced quality graduates that will add up to the list of competent and product-ive nurses in the future. These undying efforts are evident, as they delved into the different domains of the nursing profession. Now, the time has come to reap the fruits of their labor as their batch has finally brought their school to the top!

Grabbing the 3rd Place in the board exam may not be the ultimate dream of the College, but neverthe-less, with positive attitudes and strong determination, UERMMMC can step above the rest. This expe-rience is but an opportunity for the College to do more. Moreover, this accomplishment can inspire the younger batches at UERMMMC who are also aspiring for excellence. As they say, the road to development and success is long and narrow. But with stronger faith and determina-tion by the faculty, the staff and most especially by the students them-selves, UERMMMC can live up to being the BEST among its PEERS—truly a center of academic excellence.
